CCRF signed up to bring Bentley into our rescue on 6/23 from a shelter where he was slated for euthanasia. It was then discovered that he had a broken leg.

6/27 - Bentley has arrived in Chicago!!! To get Bentley here from Southern Illinois, several people took on different legs of the trip and finally he arrived this afteroon in a white minivan with the last volunteer driver, Mac.
6/27 - This big black and tan fellow is full of fleas and ticks, has tested positive for heartworm disease, does have a badly broken back left leg and even has some broken teeth. He was very likely hit by a car. He was so happy to hop out of the van and start giving CCRF staff and volunteers kisses! Bentley above is being seen by the staff at Roscoe Village Animal Hospital. Thank you SO much to all of you who made it possible for Bentley to come to Chicago! His road to recovery is going to be lengthy and costly, but this beautiful boy is worth it!
7/1 - UPDATE! Bentley underwent surgery yesterday. He came through surgery well, but because it was an old injury, they had to amputate his leg. While we wish his leg could have been saved, there are a few positives about his leg being amputated. His recovery time has been decreased and now he will be able to start his Heartworm treatment much sooner. He's already learned how to walk without using that leg for support, so in just a few days, he's going to feel so much better. And he won't have complications or bad arthritis in that leg going forward. Bentley does need a foster home ASAP so he can recover - please contact us if you are able to foster Mr. Bentley.
